Based on the theory of nonlinear optics, he focuses on the investigations of optical fiber communications, pulsed fiber lasers and their applications since 2002. Besides, techniques of Raman spectroscopy (e.g. confocal Raman microspectroscopy system, surface-enhanced Raman scattering) and fiber sensor were also investigated. He published about 100 papers, including more than 60 peer-reviewed journal papers. His currently research interests are:
1.Theories and applications of nonlinear fiber optics,
2.Nonlinear optical effects in optical fiber communications,
3.Ultrafast fiber laser,
4.Applications of ultrafast fiber laser (e.g. ultrafast spectroscopy, imaging).
