Mass Spectrometry Instrumentation and Application
The goal of this course is to introduce to the students the basic principles of mass spectrometry. The fundamental knowledge for the technologies involved and concepts of the instrument design are introduced and further illustrated with discussion of the applications in various areas including the proteomics, biomedical diagnostics, environmental monitoring, pharmaceutical drug development, etc. The most common instrumentation configurations and applications are covered in the lectures. Students are encouraged to acquire additional knowledge in this area via reading the literatures, writing reviews and making presentations.
