Nature Photonics | New mechanism of femtosecond laser direct writing 3D photonic integrated chips

Release time:2022-03-29
Hits:

Femtosecond laser direct writing technology has the advantages of fast processing speed, high precision (micro and nano level), and can realize 3D structure processing, and has been applied in a rich material system. Photonic integrated chips prepared by femtosecond laser direct writing technology are important platforms for the next generation of on-chip information processing. Recently, a joint research team from Jilin University's School of Electronics, Tsinghua University's Department of Precision Imaging, and Hong Kong Baptist University's School of Physics has made important progress in the field of femtosecond laser direct writing 3D photonic integrated chips: Researchers have designed and fabricated photonic integrated chips based on non-Abelian braiding effects, providing a new technological route for applications such as optical quantum logic on chip. The research results, titled "Non-Abelian braiding on photonic chips" were published online in a long article in the authoritative optical journal Nature Photonics. The corresponding author of the paper is Professor Hongbo Sun of Tsinghua University.
