The research group published a paper in the Journal of Lightwave Technology, using the time shifting deviation method (proposed in our previous work) to analyze the urban traffic on Beijing Ring Road, and realizing the traffic flow monitoring of large trucks and light vehicles respectively. Some interesting traffic phenomena including the traffic flow during the 2022 Winter Olympic Games are monitored and analyzed.
The existing traffic flow monitoring methods based on mobile phone navigation has been widely used. But limited to user bias, it cannot accurately show the traffic of large trucks. The research group used a fiber-based traffic sensing system to monitor the flow of heavy and light vehicles respectively, and verified its reliability by comparing with AutoNavi data. In addition, the analysis of the heavy vehicle flow during the 2022 Winter Olympics and the 2021 Double 11 finds interesting traffic phenomena. The paper entitled "Urban Fiber based Laser Interferometry for Traffic Monitoring and Analysis" was published and available:
