On May 20, 2021, the series of activities for the 60th Anniversary of the China Metrology and Testing Society and the Commemoration of " 20 World Metrology Day" were held at the Beijing Convention Center. The conference announced the list of winners for the 2020 Science and Technology Award of the China Metrology and Testing Society, and the project "Key Technologies and Applications of Absolute Distance Measurement Based on Optical Frequency Combs," led by this research, won the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award. This work was completed in collaboration with Associate Professor Ni Kai and Associate Professor Zhou Qian from the Tsinghua International Graduate School, and the team from the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Relying on the National Major Scientific Instrument Special Project the Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation, the project "Key Technologies and Applications of Absolute Distance Measurement Based on Optical Frequency Combs" addressed the needs for absolute distance in the field of high-end equipment manufacturing. It conducted research on common scientific and technological issues in the principles, methods, and instrumentation of optical frequency comb absolute measurement, broke through a series of key technological bottlenecks such as femtosecond optical pulse alignment and traceability, and developed new measurement methods and systems. It successfully developed the optical comb absolute distance measurement instrument ahead of domestic and international peers, and carried out key demonstration applications in fields such as deformation measurement of space cameras and satellite antenna measurement. project applied for 27 invention patents, 17 of which have been granted, published 64 papers, including 41 indexed by SCI, signed16 technology transfer product contracts, and generated direct economic benefits exceeding 24 million yuan.

The Science and Technology Progress Award of the China Metrology and Testing is the highest award in the field of metrology and testing. This award showcases important scientific and technological achievements in the field of metrology and testing, and eight have been held since 2013. Among them, projects applying for the First Prize are required to have their overall technology officially applied for more than three years have achieved significant economic or social benefits.
