Deformable Mirror (DM) technologies
Professor Lei Huang leads a major effort in the advancements of new DM technologies, including theoretical modeling, comprehensive simulation, analytical synthesis, and experimental prototyping. Recent accomplishments include bidirectional thermal actuation DM, tubular DM, grazing incidence DM, multi-reflections waveguide DM, and large aperture PZT DM. These technologies significantly improve the wavefront correction ability of adaptive optics system (i.e. all the first 30 order Zernike Coefficients of the residual errors could be controlled below 5%, compared with typical 20%-45%).
