We target at technology innovation on optical manipulation, optofludics, and light-driven micromachines and their applications in materials science and life science. We also explore new technology in additive nanomanufacutring of diverse nanomaterials into functional photonic devices and laser manufacturing of different low-diemensional materials. Further more, we also study the light-matter quantum coupling and their applications in active photonic devices and erasable photonic devices. We have developed
(1) Interfacial-entropy-driven thermophoretic tweezers for non-invasive manipulation of biological cells.
(2) Thermoelectric nanotweezers and in-situ spectroscopy of diverse nanomaterials with sizes down to 20 nm.
(3) Bubble-pen lithography for on-demand manufacturing of freeform materials.
(4) Hybrid plasmon-waveguide mode and its coupling with photochromic molecules for rewritable waveguides.
I have published more than 40 peer-review papers, including more than 30 first-author or corresponding author papers in the top journals such as Nature Photonics, Science Advances, Materials Today, Accounts of Chemical Research, Nano Letters, and ACS Nano. My work has been featured by scientific media for over 100 times by Science, Nature Photonics, Laser Focus World, Discovery Channel, etc. The work on opto-thermoelectric nanotweezers has been selected by Nature Collection of Nobel Physics in Physics 2018, featured as Optics in 2018 by OSA-OPN, and selected as 2019 Co-op Best Research Paper.
